Mindjoy chatbot

Image
I am linking Mindjoy Chatbots within Genially to develop little activities. I am still experimenting with this so this is not perfect but I can already see lots of potential. Activity 1: Students will need to engage with the chatbot to figure out how to unlock the padlock on this Genially: You won't be able to access my Chatbot but here is a screenshot to give you an idea: The script for my chatbot was: Your name is Lucas, and you're a 9-year-old French boy born on December 3rd. You have a dog, a cat, and two fish. You have one brother and three sisters. Your task is to help students find a code to open a lock. The code is five digits long, and the children will discover the answers using your replies to the questions below. The children must ask you the following questions in French: What is your name? (Comment t'appelles-tu?) How old are you? (Quel âge as-tu?) When is your birthday? (Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?) Do you have any pets? (Tu as un animal?) Do yo...

Blackout Day

We have become so accustomed to relying on technology for our teaching that when the Eco rep at the school declares Thursday, April 18th, as a blackout day, it's a real call to think creatively. I thrive on challenges and am eager to create unique and engaging activities. So, I started to get some ideas and devised a scavenger hunt for pupils in years 6 to 8. I made 50 cards (in 4 different colours for four groups) featuring various words and phrases representing items they'll need to find in the playground. There are some crazy cards where the children will need to use their imagination and creativity to get a point! Let’s hope that the weather will be nice on that day! Activity available in my TES shop Please leave a comment!

Neurodiversity week

Image
 - Neurodiversity week (18-22 March 2024) -  As a passionate advocate for acknowledging and supporting neurodiversity in educational and professional settings,  I took on leading the neurodiversity programme for my school. During Neurodiversity week, in my French lessons, I asked the children from Year 4 to Year 8 to create wordclouds with  WordArt  and the results were amazing. Here is a post from my school X account.  Celebrating neurodiversity is about recognising and valuing the diverse ways in which people's brains work. It promotes a more inclusive, understanding, and supportive environment for all individuals. To raise awareness of neurodiversity I created a Breakout game with the amazing template by Sandbox Educacion I integrated the Private Joke concept into our form competition. Private Joke is a game where you have to make up a word for a definition. Collaborating with our two Neurodiversity Prefects, we carefully chose 5 cards, one for each d...

First post

- FIRST POST - New to blogging, I'm excited to start this journey to share ideas for teaching MFL. Let me introduce myself. I'm Marie Allirot, a native French speaker from a small village between Lyon and Saint-Etienne. For the past 25 years, I've dedicated myself to teaching languages here in the UK. Initially, I spent 14 rewarding years in two secondary schools before joining the prep school where I've been for the past 11 years. Throughout my educational journey, I've taken on various roles, such as Form tutor, 3rd in Department, Head of Department, Deputy Housemistress, and Housemistress. These experiences have allowed me to make significant contributions to curriculum development and student engagement. My true passion lies in integrating technology into education, a passion that's reflected in my roles as an administrator for the " Teaching with Genially " Facebook group, my work as a Genially ambassador, and the webinars on gamification that I...
