The Olympics: Mixed physical and digital escape game

My pupils love escape games, not just digital ones. I try to prepare a mixed physical and digital escape game each term for "special occasions". This is always something they remember! Having worked on planning lessons around the Olympics, I decided to recycle some of the tasks I had already made into a mixed physical and digital escape game.  You need to have access to devices which can scan QR codes.  You will need to print the 30 Phryges (Olympic mascots) and display them in your classroom. I usually hang them on the ceiling with a piece of string. The children work in small group and have to complete the 30 activities, some are QR CODES linked to a Genially or learning app, others are logic puzzles or riddles. Two of them need a mirror attached to them as you will need to read the messages in the mirror. The Olympics

  The Olympics With the Olympics fast approaching, I've planned several cross-curricular lessons centred around this exciting event. It seemed like the perfect theme to integrate with various subjects! Lesson 1: Connect the history of the Olympics with basic French vocabulary related to the Games. Lesson 2: Use the Phryges, the mascots of Paris 2024, to explore the history behind the Phrygian cap. This lesson can also incorporate learning French colour vocabulary. For older students, you could create a chatbot modelled after one of the mascots and have them ask questions in French. This will be a fun and interactive way to practise the language!
