The Olympics: Mixed physical and digital escape game

My pupils love escape games, not just digital ones. I try to prepare a mixed physical and digital escape game each term for "special occasions". This is always something they remember!

Having worked on planning lessons around the Olympics, I decided to recycle some of the tasks I had already made into a mixed physical and digital escape game.

You need to have access to devices which can scan QR codes.

You will need to print the 30 Phryges (Olympic mascots) and display them in your classroom. I usually hang them on the ceiling with a piece of string.

The children work in small group and have to complete the 30 activities, some are QR CODES linked to a Genially or learning app, others are logic puzzles or riddles. Two of them need a mirror attached to them as you will need to read the messages in the mirror. Each activity gives them a letter which they record on the worksheet.

Once they have retrieved all the letters, they can read  the secret message: "la recompense est dans un sac orange" (The reward is in an orange bag). Make sure you have your reward ready in an orange bag! This type of activity is really engaging and the children have so much fun!

All the explanations, resources and answers are in this document.  (The link for the intro video is here)
