The Olympics

 The Olympics

With the Olympics fast approaching, I've planned several cross-curricular lessons centred around this exciting event. It seemed like the perfect theme to integrate with various subjects!

Lesson 1: Connect the history of the Olympics with basic French vocabulary related to the Games.

Lesson 2: Use the Phryges, the mascots of Paris 2024, to explore the history behind the Phrygian cap. This lesson can also incorporate learning French colour vocabulary.

For older students, you could create a chatbot modelled after one of the mascots and have them ask questions in French. This will be a fun and interactive way to practise the language!

Lesson 3: Integrate art by exploring the interesting designs of the Olympic pictogram

I also prepared an interactive quiz to recap what has been learnt so far:

Lesson 4: Combine computing and creativity by using Minecraft to build the Eiffel Tower and the Olympic rings.

Lesson 5: Engage with music through Udio by creating an Olympic-themed song. I'll input the lyrics into Udio, as the children won't be able to access, but it will be fun to create a song together as a group!

Lesson 6: Inspired by Joe Dale's use of Google My Maps, I've designed an escape game around the Olympic venues in Paris, making a great cross-curricular link with geography.

  1. This is absolutely fabulous! I don't know how you create such amazing resources. I feel really clueless. You should charge for it!
